Code of Conduct
SAFEHerps members only give what they can!
SAFEHerps brings together community members to do volunteer rescue work. Members are encouraged and expected to give only what they can. We can’t help all the animals, but we help some animals for longer if we safeguard our energy, bank accounts, and spirits.
SAFEHerps members create safety for each other.
Members are respectful of each others’ time and boundaries. Members who exhibit harassing, bullying, or other unsafe behavior will be removed from the community. We do not tolerate racism, misogyny, homophobia, or transphobia. A Conflict Management Committee is available to help resolve conflicts between members.
SAFEHerps members provide appropriate care for animals.
SAFEHerps members use Reptifiles care guidelines for any animals they foster, reaching out to other members for guidance on aspects of husbandry that are unclear in Reptifiles. Members who provide inadequate care for animals or otherwise abuse them will be removed from the community.
SAFEHerps members do not breed SAFEHerps animals.
There are too many captive reptiles and amphibians who need good homes. If a SAFEHerps member is discovered using or having used animals in their care for the purpose of breeding (and therefore making the problem worse), they will be removed from the community.
SAFEHerps members are effective ambassadors for SAFEHerps.
If you join SAFEHerps, you’re automatically an ambassador for our community! Members who misrepresent SAFEHerps, hijack its spaces and processes for their own interests at the expense of or to the detriment the community, or otherwise act in ways that do not align with our values will be removed.
